Walter Hagen (back turned away from camera) was a professional golfer in the Los Angeles area. His professional achievements still hold relevance today with the third most major victories (behind Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods).
The camera looks down towards the tee of Hole 2 at Oakmont Country Club. At center, Lawson Little stands at the tee, appearing to have just teed off. He faces left and turns his back foot while resting his golf club to his shoulder. A rope lines the perimeter of the tee. On the near side of the rope, from left to right, Walter Hagen and Richard Arlen stand at right. They too face towards the left. To the left of them and directly behind Lawson, the threesome's 3 caddies stand in a row. On the far side of the rope, dozens of spectators stand, facing camera and looking towards the left. Oakmont Country Club's golf course stretches across the background.
