Signage for the Eagles Nest campground posted at the camp, Emerald Bay, about 1922
- Description:
- Photograph of a couple of signs posted at the Eagle's Nest campground in the Emerald Bay area of Lake Tahoe. Two signs are posted at center. The smaller of the two sits at top, it reads, "EL DORADO NATIONAL FOREST EAGLES NEST PUBLIC CAMP GROUND <-- 1M. NEXT PUBLIC CAMP 1M. -->." Beneath it, a larger sign reads, "THIS PUBLIC CAMP GROUND IS MAINTAINED BY THE U.S. FOREST SERVICE IF IT HAS BEEN OF SERVICE TO YOU, SHOW YOUR APPRECIATION BY GUARDING AGAINST MUTILATION OF TREES OR IMPROVEMENTS. PUT OUT YOUR FIRE AND LEAVE YOUR CAMP CLEAN." Tall pines rise behind the signage and the top portion of a large tent stands behind the sign in the lower right corner.
