The Los Angeles team won five out of the six events.

Standing next to Garland is Dr. Madilene Veverka (aka Madeline), who was head supervisor of Los Angeles city schools, kindergarten and primary grades. The Order of the White Lion was an award of merit by Czechoslovakia for foreign citizens.
