- Jewelry stolen from motion picture actress Lila Lee by her former chauffeur, Robert Lewis. Lewis entered into Lee's home via a key he knew to be hidden on the back porch and stole the jewelry, worth a total of $10,000 (in 1934 dollars). Lewis was apprehended while trying to sell a ruby and platinum ring at a pawn shop for $3. When Lee was notified that her former chauffeur was in custody and her jewelry had been recovered, she was on set and had no knowledge the theft had taken place. February 16, 1934.
