Photograph appears with the article, "Martin Johnsons Fear Perils of Civilization," Los Angeles Times, 13 Jan 1937: 7.
Even though Mr. and Mrs. Johnson have an expansive history across the continents encountering every type of ferocious animal in the heart of the jungles and the tropical heat, it is this environment that the couple have expressed they feel safest, as opposed to America, which they claimed was the most dangerous due to how civilized it is. Yesterday, flying over the Olive View Sanatorium, Mr. Johnson sustained fatal injuries from the crashed Western Air Express liner, while Osa remains in critical condition.
Stamped date not provided, date written in the upper right hand corner of negative sleeve used.
The smiling couple - Martin rests one arm around Osa.
