- View of Mertie West taking in the view from the Desert View visitor center at the eastern end of the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.
- Caption
- Text from negative sleeve: 573. Grand Canyon trip, May 1942. Going eastward we stopped at Desert View. A big stone tower. It was just closing up so we could not go in and up the tower. There were boxes around the porch in which were colored glass reflectors and we looked thru them. Here is Mertie looking at one pointed over into Utah.
