The photograph is of another photograph that shows Gomez leaning against a fence. Another man is standing beside him, but his face and much of his body is obscured by a strip of tape that says "CURTIS S GOMEZ".

After struggling with an illness for many months, Curtis L. Gomez passed away in his home at 2345 West Twentieth Street. His son Louis Gomez, who had passed away ten days ago, was thought to contribute to his sickness through the grief that it brought him. Mr. Gomez and his wife moved to Los Angeles in 1910, where he was associated with the organization of the Colorado River Land Company until five months ago, when ill health forced him to retire.
