The car was probably assigned to collect dance marathon participants at Jack Kearns dance marathon (another photograph taken on the same occasion shows dance marathon participants walking toward the car, image ark no. 21198/zz002hbkqv).
The negative sleeve annotation relates this image to Jack Kearns, an American boxing manager. Kearns sponsored a controversial dance marathon (which he termed "walkathon" to get around ordinances) in Los Angeles in 1934. It was raided on May 9.
