Adeline Shorb, upon release from Lincoln Heights jail for using a fictitious name, Anna Shorb, to obtain relief from the Los Angeles County Relief Administration. She used a former name because she was too ashamed to make her poverty public knowledge. The Lincoln Heights jail building is located at 421 North Avenue 19.
