This image is of a crowd of onlookers viewing a recovered Japanese submarine. Several people stand up on a platform next to the submarine and look in its portholes. Other people mill around in front of the submarine, including a soldier in uniform. In the far background is a sign on a building that reads “Altman’s Fine Furniture Moderately Priced 1344 Fourth Street.” The hood of a car is inthe foreground.
This image is of the captured Japanese submarine mentioned in the L.A. Times article from Dec. 17, 1941.
