Levy was an orderly to General Harrison Gray Otis, and served six times in the American service and three times under the British flag. His campaigns included the Zula, Sudan and Boar wars under Britain and China, Cuba, the Philippines and the Mexican border under America.
Levy holds a cigarette in one hand. A ribbon attached to his jacket says VISITOR 35TH NATIONAL ENCAMPMENT U. S. W. V. LOS ANGELES. The rest of the ribbon is obscured by his arm.
