Photographs of different track events at the same meet appear with the caption, "TOO FAST FOR EVEN THE CAMERA'S EYE Ed House, Trojan sprint star, was credited with 10s. flat in the 100-yard dash at the Coliseum yesterday, the finish of which is shown below. One watch caught House at 9 7-10s., while another clocked him at 9 8-10s. He proved too speed for the camera, having passed the finish line when this photo was snapped. At the extreme right is Herschel Smith, who placed second. Bud Nash, third-place winner, is third from the left. Sauers of U.S.C. is second from the left while another Oxy man appears on the extreme left. Milton Nash is seen just behind Smith. [Photos by George Watson, Times staff photographer]," Los Angeles Times, 21 Feb. 1926: A1
A U.S.C. Trojan is captured from a worm's-eye view while making a high jump attempt. Blurry ground sprawls along the bottom edge. Beyond it, at center, the high jumper is in mid-air as he passes over the bar. His body is horizontal and facing camera. He stretches an arm over his head and to the left. The high jump bar stretches horizontally beneath him. On the ground and near the left edge, a track official stands to the side of the bar and watches the jump attempt. The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum's stands stretch across the background.
