Description

Nine American Indians pose for a photograph on their arrival at the Santa Fe train (La Grande) Station at 2nd Street and Santa Fe Avenue. They travelled with a group of 61 American Indians from Gallup, New Mexico, to perform ceremonial dances at a Shriners' convention. The group of 61 included members of the following tribes: Hopi, Zuni, Laguna, Cochiti, Navajo, and Cherokee. The men in this photograph are wearing traditional clothing and jewelry. The five standing men wear knee high moccasins, and concho belts, and are holding rattles. Eight of the men wear necklaces, including two stand men, 2nd and 4th from left, who wear squash blossom necklaces.
