- KENDO LESSON-Instructor Torao Mori teaches Centinela Valley Japanese youngsters rudiments of kendo, offshoot of Samurai sword fighting of old. He holds bamboo pole, called shinai, to show pupils they must hit opponents with portion of pole between tip and leather band about 10 inches from tip. Boys are 7 years and older. Mori also teaches fencing to boys, girls, men and women.
